It's a little late to be sharing this holiday drink recipe but you can always file it away for next Christmas:
Candy Cane Martini
Mix the vodka and Peppermint Schnapps with ice in a shaker, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Pour it back into the shaker and dip the rim into a plate of crushed candy canes to create a minty rim. Next, pour the mixture back into the glass for a classy Christmas cocktail. If you have those mini candy canes, you can hook one over the rim instead.
If you like chocolate you could use the recipe for chocolate martinis (readily available via Google) and dip the rim into the crushed candy canes.
Or, if you're feeling, um, sluggish, you could try the drink I invented; I like to call it the Loose Goose:
Diet Pepsi (or Coke, if that's how you roll)
Gray Goose Le Citron vodka (or another brand, but then you can't technically call it "Goose")
Miralax
Stir and enjoy. If you suffer from "chronic ideopathic constipation" like I apparently do, according to the colonoscopy I had last week, you can augment the drink with a few fiber pills. Of course, if you do suffer from it, this drink will do nothing, but maybe it will have a cumulative effect if you have one every evening. Or that's what I tell myself.

Gostei muito desse post e seu blog é muito interessante, vou passar por aqui sempre =) Depois dá uma passada lá no meu site, que é sobre o CresceNet, espero que goste. O endereço dele é http://www.provedorcrescenet.com . Um abraço.
Hi Maggie - I suspected you had a blog somewhere (I remember you were involved in an online group that focused on your kids births or something). Glad to see you are doing well. That martini sounds great - And here I thought you didn't drink!
I got here via the Washington Post guest blog entries you've written.
HI MAGGIE
the only other person i know who uses miralax is my 20 month old granddaughter Noa.
It works for her, too, but she's too young to be "chronic".

Hi Dona--do I know you? Yes, I'm still on the same online "trying to conceive" board even though it's been 10 years since I was trying to conceive.
I don't really drink that much--not to put the blame on poor Patrick but before I knew him I never in my life had a drink at home. ;)
Yeah, you know me from another life (your last marriage). We spent a couple of superbowl parties together at Mike and Maria's and once you drove my daughter, Clare, and me home (we only got a little lost but you missed most of Sex and the City).
You gave us that thing that goes under slouchy couches to make them last a bit longer (we finally passed it on to someone else and bought a new sofa).
Remember now?
Of course I remember you--you're Dean's wife! How weird to "meet" you again in cyberspace. I totally remember getting lost after that superbowl party--ironically I now live sort of near there and know exactly how to get to/from that neighborhood.
Funny/weird "meeting" someone who knows Eric who still speaks to me ;)
Anyway, nice to hear from you--small world!
Whew. Glad I wasn't a figment of my own imagination.
